Ed Loftus’ Remarks on Workday

Sunday, April 1, marks a new beginning rather than an end. Next week we start our journey together in Workday for Finance, Human Resource and Payroll operations. It is an exciting moment for our institution as we continue to implement President Bravman’s vision of broadly enabling data-informed decision-making. In fact, one of the guiding principles of the Workday team has been “putting information closest to where the work is done and the questions are asked.”

And while we are confident you will see tremendous enhancements with Workday, we also appreciate that with change comes uncertainty. We are committed to assisting the campus in every way possible throughout this transition. Here are some important points to keep in mind as we move forward:

  • Please continue to use the Tech Desk, the “7s” or on-line service catalogue. This is your first level of support for Workday assistance and the entry point to a Workday Transition Center staffed by Bucknell and Workday employees who will address questions as they arise.
  • Access to self-help, job aids and training opportunities will continue to increase on the Workday Training site as we fully integrate Workday in the weeks and months ahead.
  • Access to FAQs, recent campus announcements, Workday terminology and basic getting-started information will be regularly updated on the Workday@Bucknellsite.
  • We will offer specific assistance for those who wish to set up Workday on mobile devices. You can find the dates, times and locations of these set-up stations online.
  • A satellite Tech Desk, “7s on the Go,” will be available in the ELC Mall outside the Bison weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer walk-up questions about Workday through the end of the semester.

For further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact staff in Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, and Library & Information Technology — we’re here for you.
