What happens with the 20+ years of HR and Finance data stored in Banner after Workday is implemented?
- All 20+ years of data from Banner is owned by Bucknell and will be retained even after the implementation of Workday.
- Where that data is stored and how that data is accessed will be determined based upon our various campus needs:
- Bucknell’s Workday project team will be developing a detailed data conversion plan that addresses the specifics of the subset of the legacy data that will be migrated into Workday.
- Other legacy Banner data needed regularly will remain stored in Bucknell databases and readily accessed via our standard reporting tools, such as Cognos.
- Other less frequently used legacy Banner data can be archived to inexpensive long term storage and accessed only when needed, like in response to an audit.
- At some point after the initial Workday implementation, Bucknell will stop paying maintenance fees on Banner HR and Banner Finance. Once that happens everyone should assume that we can no longer use Banner HR and Finance programs to access the 20+ years of legacy Banner data.
