Provost Barbara Altman on Workday

As the Workday target launch date of April 1 approaches, we can look forward to streamlining many daily operations at Bucknell. For example, Workday will reduce the need for paper processing. Beginning April 1, expense reimbursement requests will be submitted and approved electronically, which supports convenience and sustainability.

I want to emphasize that the anticipated implementation of Workday on April 1 is the starting point for a new era of daily business practices for Bucknell that will continue to evolve. To support Workday’s debut and ongoing development, our colleagues in Human Resources, Finance, and L⁢ are offering Workday training by department, college, job function and/or role, and you may access online training anytime. Following the launch, we will continue regular training sessions as we work to acclimate campus to this new resource. Those who are working off-campus this semester, including faculty, will have many opportunities to learn Workday at a later date.

Please note that Banner Student will not be replaced by Workday. We will continue to use Banner for student information and records. If you manage student employees, however, be aware that they will now submit their hours to you through Workday. Student workers will receive separate communications about Workday to ensure they are prepared for this change.

Thank you for your continued support as the University moves toward adopting Workday on our target date of April 1. I’m confident that we will all benefit from the collaboration and coordination offered by this new system.

Barbara Altmann
